working with complex scene and multiple obj

hi all.
i have a complex set of objects inside my keyshot scene. the keyshot file was generated with solidedge. my initial task is to attribute the correct materials to the various objects present in the scene. the scene is composed (also) of a certain number of storage batteries to which I have to apply the same characteristics. I would like to avoid applying the materials one at a time to each battery. I would also like to avoid selecting similar parts of each battery and apply the correct material for each part.
the names of objects in the scene don’t help (05350041, and so on…).
for this reason I decided to keep only one battery in the scene, attribute the correct material to the various parts that make up the battery and then duplicate the battery. What do you think of this working method?
is there a quick way to duplicate the battery multiple times with the same shift?
thx, milko

Hi @milko.schiop

Yes, this can be very frustrating sometimes and needs lots of work and patience, but first of all I would suggest naming your parts already in Solid Edge and then grouping them in KS, before you start applying any materials. This will safe you tons of work and searching for parts later on.

Apart from that, how about using the Pattern Tool:

Also, if you are already in the scene and you just want to copy/past one material to another part, you can do the following: hold “Shift” and Left-Click on the part with the material -> then hold “Shift” again and Right-Click on the other part. Those materials are now connected and have the same values.

Hope that helped.

Also, if you make an assembly in Solid Edge and have several of the same part, eg. every battery consists of the same parts, you should only have to apply materials to one of the batteries to get them all to look the same. Identical parts from the CAD program automatically gets the same material when you apply one to a single part in Keyshot, as long as you don’t unlink them manually.

You are right Joakim, to speed up material attribution is one of my goal.
